My name is Marisa Conti, I am born and raised in Rhode Island. I'm 23 years old and I graduated from URI in May 2013 with a Bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies. I am the youngest of 4 kids, and come from a very loud Italian family, which I wouldn't trade for the world! I love working with children and decided at my internship during my undergrad that being a teacher is definitely the career path I've been searching for. I interned at Highlander Charter School in Providence where I fell in love with the students, staff. and environment. Working in an urban school setting is my ultimate goal, I love the diversity that the classrooms have and how appreciative the children are. I grew up in Smithfield, a very suburban area in Rhode Island, where most of the students there are very well off and not very thankful for what they have. The change in scenery in an urban school reminds me everyday that I am a very lucky person, and I want urban children to have a teacher, like myself, that truly cares to see them not only succeed, but having fun while they succeed.
